Construction crews have been working diligently all summer to make key building repairs to the west entrance, concessions area, and main GJHS North gym. During the last school year, GPS maintenance staff discovered a major water main leak under the building. The water issue caused additional structural issues around the North Gym area.
After working with an Omaha engineering firm to affirm safe occupancy, it was still determined that significant repairs needed to be done through the summer to reinforce some of the areas in and around the gymnasium. Crews have been working, since school ended, to add these additional structural supports. We look forward to completing the project around the beginning of October.
Plans have been made to coordinate athletic practices, events, and PE schedules while crews complete the project. Thank you to the repair crews and GPS parents, students and staff for your patience!
