The Gering High School Mock Trial team demonstrated exceptional skill and determination at both the district and state levels this season. On Monday, December 9, and Tuesday, December 10, the team traveled to Omaha to compete at the 2024 Nebraska High School Mock Trial Championships at the Hruska Federal Courthouse.
In an outstanding display of power, poise, and perseverance, the Bulldogs dominated the competition, defeating teams from Lincoln Pius X, Ainsworth, and Dundy County-Stratton. At the end of the third round, Gering was undefeated, winning all ballots.
Despite their exceptional performance, the Bulldogs narrowly missed advancing to the state finals and finished the season as 3rd Place at State.
Earlier in the season, the Gering Mock Trial team was crowned District Champions and also earned the title of District Runner-Up, showcasing their dominance at the regional level.
In addition to the team’s collective success, Rubie Gies, Gering’s student news reporter, was named State Champion in the Student News Reporter Division. This individual honor underscores her exceptional talent and dedication.
“We are so proud of the hard work and commitment these students demonstrated throughout the season,” said Coach, John Boyd. “Although we are disappointed that they didn’t have the opportunity to compete for the championship, we are incredibly grateful for their outstanding performance and sportsmanship.”
Please join us in congratulating the students and coaches for their exceptional accomplishments this season:
