Gering Middle School students have brought the holiday spirit to life by constructing a charming schoolhouse for the new Gering Merchants Santa’s Village. This unique project not only showcases the talent and teamwork of our students but also adds a heartwarming touch to our community’s festive celebrations.
Under the guidance of their teacher, Drew Zweig, the students worked diligently to design and build a schoolhouse that will be a centerpiece of Santa’s Village. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail reflect their pride in contributing something meaningful to their town.
“This project has been an incredible experience,” shared one student builder. “It’s exciting to see something we created become part of a tradition that families will enjoy.”
Santa’s Village, organized by the Gering Merchants, is set to become a holiday favorite, drawing families and visitors to enjoy its festive charm. The addition of the schoolhouse highlights the creativity and dedication of our middle school students and emphasizes the importance of community partnerships.
This initiative was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Gering Kiwanis, whose support enabled our students to turn their vision into reality. Thank you, Gering Kiwanis, for believing in our students and helping bring this project to life!
Dr. Nicole Regan, Superintendent of Gering Public Schools, expressed her enthusiasm: “Our students' contributions demonstrate the impact of hands-on learning and the value of community collaboration. They’ve created something that will be cherished for years to come.”
The pride these students feel in their work is evident, and their efforts will enrich Gering’s holiday celebrations, bringing joy to residents and visitors alike. This project reminds us all of the power of collaboration, creativity, and the spirit of giving—values that Gering embodies year-round.
The schoolhouse debuted at Santa’s Village on November 26th. We invite everyone to visit, enjoy the holiday magic, and take a moment to celebrate the remarkable work of Gering Middle School students and the incredible support from Gering Kiwanis.
