Gering, Nebraska (April 22, 2024) - Gering Public Schools is proud to announce Wendee Powell as the new principal of Northfield Elementary. With an extensive background in education and a commitment to student success, Powell brings a wealth of experience to her new role.
Powell is a Gering High School graduate and has been the Assistant Principal at Longfellow Elementary since 2019. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln and a Master's degree in Educational Administration from the University of Nebraska - Kearney. Her passion for fostering and supporting educators to improve instructional strategies and purposeful education will drive continued success for the students of Northfield.
"I am honored to work alongside the dedicated staff at Northfield," said Powell. "Together we'll build strong connections with students to create passionate learners who lead by example and aim to become the best version of themselves. I look forward to partnering with families to provide the very best educational experience for their children."
Powell's appointment comes at an exciting time for Northfield Elementary as the school continues to prioritize academic excellence and student well-being. Demonstrated by Northfield's remarkable growth in ELA that is among the top 5 in proficiency in the region.
