The Nebraska Department of Education recently awarded Gering Public Schools (GPS) a $154,000 Stronger Connections Grant to implement evidence-based activities that promote a safe, healthy, and supportive school environment. GPS is one of seventeen school districts across the state that will have access to this safety and security grant funding.
Superintendent Dr. Nicole Regan shares, "As a district, we continue to prioritize safety training and prevention initiatives. We are incredibly grateful for these grant funds, which will help us enhance targeted safety measures and further support our students' physical, mental health, social and academic needs."
At GPS, grant funds will build professional development and capacity for school-based mental health, support prevention programs for anti-bullying strategies, and enhance trauma-informed school initiatives.
