General Information

At Gering Public Schools, curriculum is the way by which teachers facilitate the student learning of grade level/subject area content.  Curriculum encompasses skills (what we want the students to know), intended outcomes (what we want students to be able to demonstrate), assessment (how we will know if the students know what we’ve taught), and intervention/enrichment (what we do if the students don’t know; what we do if the students do know what we’ve taught).

Through the use of various instructional materials, tools, resources, Nebraska State Standards, and relative assessments, Gering Public Schools delivers the knowledge and skills that students need to progress in their education.

Goals & Responsibilities

The goal of Curriculum Services is to provide high quality services that translate into continually improving student learning opportunities and results. Our staff has responsibility for providing educational leadership, offering both support and challenge to the educators of Gering Public Schools.

Because student learning is at the center of all we do, our efforts necessarily focus on the content, contexts, and processes that will likely provide the best possible learning opportunities. Teachers have always been the key to great learning experiences; it's what happens between the teachers and students that determines whether learning opportunities are engaging, rigorous, relevant, meaningful, and lasting.

GPS teachers and administrators have responsibility for actively engaging in individual and collaborative work that improves learning opportunities for each student.

Grade Level Core Curriculum

Gering Public Schools curriculum offers diversified and vigorous instructional programs that create a vibrant learning atmosphere for our students. The Curriculum Department at GPS has a variety of programs and people in place to help teachers integrate the district's curriculum into their classroom activities in meaningful ways. We work closely with teachers to, align curriculum, review instructional materials, research innovative teaching strategies, design student assessment, integrate technology and help teachers meet the diverse needs of all students.
