Geil Elementary School
Geil
Elementary is the newest building in the district, having been
built in 1975. It houses Kindergarten through 6th grade students.
During the 2004-2005 school year this building became a Reading
First school. Direct Instruction was implemented as the program to
improve reading in grades K-3. The district was encouraged by the
year 1 results (increased achievement). Therefore, the Direct
Instruction program was implemented in 4th grade in the 2005-2006
school year. The district will implement Direct Instruction in
grades 5th and 6th during the 2006-2007 school year. The district
will also utilize scientifically based research when implementing
new curriculum and providing professional development in the future
in all academic areas.
