Lincoln Elementary School
Lincoln
Elementary is the oldest school building in the district, having
been built in the 1920s at 1725 13th Street. It houses Kindergarten
through 6th grade students. During the 2004-2005 school year this
building became a Reading First school. Direct Instruction was
implemented as the program to improve reading in grades K-3. The
district was encouraged by the year 1 results (increased
achievement). Therefore, the Direct Instruction program was
implemented in 4th grade in the 2005-2006 school year. The district
plans to implement Direct Instruction in grades 5th and 6th during
the 2006-2007 school year. The district will also utilize
scientifically based research when implementing new curriculum and
providing professional development in the future in all academic
areas.
